Hello! I am Ahmad Suhaimi bin Abdul Rahim, married and my wife is working as a lecturer in IPRM, Seremban. We have 5 children. May I write a short note about my life during my secondary school.
After completing my primary education I continued my studies at College Sultan Abdul Hamid (SAHC). It is a premier school in the country and had produced lots of national icons such as Yang Mulia Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra, the first Prime Minister of Malaysia and also Tun Dr Mahathir Mohammad the former Prime Minister of Malaysia. Enrolled at SAHC in 1971. 9 years in that school I had many experiences there. When I was in form 1, my father passed away and I was left with my mother. As an orphan, I faced a lot hardships but it was a blessing that I was awarded a Federal Scholarship in Kolej Sultan Abdul Hamid from form 1 until form 6. I gave my scholarship to my mother to support her little income as a cook to a few students of a private school in town. I was very active in sports. I was a good badminton player but athletics and rugby were my first choices. It was always my ambition to bring glory to my school. I represented SAHC in 110m and 400m hurdles and also a team member of 4 x 100m and 4 x 400m quartet. I was also selected as a House Captain. I started to play rugby when I was in form 2 and was selected to be the school captain later. SAHC is famous for its rugby team. We always had annual games against MCKK and also King Edwad of Taiping. I started to play for my state when I was in form 4 at the national level, the senior catogory under 23 competition and also the HMS Malaya Cup tournament. The most memorable incident I was a player was when our school bus had an accident after coming back from SM Sains Bukit Mertajam after a rugby match. We won the game but two of my team mates passed away. I was nominated to receive an `All Rounder Award’ by the school with the criteria of being good in sports and excellent in studies. But I lost to another other competitor with a narrow margin. However, I was awarded the ‘School Colours’ for being a good sportsman. One of my close friends while I was in school was Dato’ Azhar Mansur, the first Malaysian to sail round solo the world . I remember we used to play roller skates together along the school corridor. I love my school so much and I always follow its development until today. According to the Malay proverb; `Tempat jatuh lagi dikenang, inikan pula tempat bermain’.
